Pyxis NLV Release Notes ----------------------- Version v2.6.0a4 ---------------- * Bug fix - (#802336). Previously PyxisNLV failed to read some MXF files containing elementary MPEG and Bwav encoded audio. * Bug fix - (#796155). Previously Flip Deck Field Order didn't work. Version v2.6.0a3 ---------------- * Bug fix - fixed a crashing bug caused by DNxHD quicktime files that contained mixed resolutions within the one file (e.g: 36, 145 Mb/sec) Version v2.6.0a2 ---------------- * Bug fix - fixed a problem that caused some AAF files with embedded audio to cause Pyxis to hang. * Improvement - Long gop Mpeg 2 MXF files exported by Pyxis are now compatible with Sony XDCAM viewer, and consequently they are now a lot quicker to drag and drop onto the timeline. * Bug fix - DreamII/Xynergi now correctly identifies BMD decklink drivers v7.5 * Bug fix - Some HD RGB encoded .avi files could crash Pyxis when imported and resized (to a smaller size). * AAF Plugin - V 2.0.1.7 enclosed. * Bugfix - A bug related to media filename confusion with filenames which had a dot (.) as part of the filename. e.g.: FL_-gloves on.new.01 _a1-9Y4J86D4QNJM9.wav * Improvement - reduced the timeout waiting for an AVI/mpg frame to render. Fixed an issue where AVI files could "stick" when trying to playback the last frame of some .mpg files. * Improvement - The 'description' field inside a BWF is preserved when a clip is exported as BWF. The default value for the BWF 'originator' field can now be specified. See Setup->General Preferences->Options * Bug fix - previously 8bit export was broken. * Improvement - some tracks names are now not imported from omf and aaf files because they dont make sense, and are distracting (e.g.: a track named 'Track 3' will not rename the existing track). * Bug fix - previously some mpeg files (.mpg and .mvf) would snap to 1 frame too early on the timeline. * Bug fix - Previously video capture could go out of synch, if video capture mode was turned on and left on whilst closing/opening or newing a project. * Bug fix - time remaining was calculated incorrectly when recording to mjpeg quicktime format. * Bug fix - Fix for Drag/drop of Thomson XML files (confusion with FCP XML). These are now only available via import. * Bug fix - (#675079). Previously D10 MXF files containing frames that were too large could not be exported. Now the larger than legal frames are truncated. * Improvement - Did some tweeking to the position of the timecode text within the timeline ruler. Version v2.6.0a1 ---------------- * Improvement - Now it only takes one undo to put clips back where they previously were after being moved by the mouse. * New feature - drag and drop MXF/Avid DNxHD files. * New Feature - Export video and audio via AAF. Requires new AAF plugin. * Improvement - Improvements to allow Pyxis to play large FCP projects, consisting of many large (HD) .mov quicktimes. * New Feature - 'Backup Project To Folder' can now optionally export video or not, and optionally choose to compress the video or keep it at its native format. * Improvement - Reduced the amount of memory each Quicktime placed on the timline uses, which helps when there are lots of Quicktime videos on the timeline. * New Feature - Media can now be dragged and dropped from read-only devices, such as a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM device. Media can also be dropped from non-fairlight devices, such as a network device accessed via a URL, such as \\fs04\RAID\media ... This media is "temporary" which means it must be localised before the projectd is saved. * Improvement - MVF files are now read more efficiently. This will give faster, more responsive jog performance. * Bug fix - Previously Pyxis would be very slow to open some MXF files containing 422P HL Iframe mpeg2 data. * Bug fix - previously resizing some quicktime files (typically mjpeg-A), whilst importing would cause the system to generate an exception or produce unexpected results. * New Feature - Added a new button to the project section of 'Media and Project Management' dialog called 'Discard Unused Media'. Also added the feature of a recycle bin for each media device which unused media is moved into. The new button 'Discard Unused Media' removes any media in the selected projects media directory that is not used by any projects in the selected projects current directory. This will only remove native (recorded or localized) media, and this media is than moved to the new recycle bin. The device list has a new column reporting how much space a device's recycle bin is taking up. To clean up the recycle bins there is another new button on the dialog call 'Empty Recycle Bins'. This can be used to empty the new recycle bins when you are sure you do not need any media from them anymore. The new recycle bins if a device has one are located on each media device under the 'FairlightAU' directory and are a directory called 'Recycle Bin'. * New Feature - Added the Ctrl modifier key to specify if dragged on audio files should be added down the tracks instead off along the one track. So to make the dragged on clips go down the tracks all you need to be doing is holding down the ctrl key when you drop the audio files on the timeline. * Improvement - The import video dialog now remembers the previous custom width and height settings * Improvement - Reduce the occurence of vsync red light flicker. * Bug fix - Previously resizing some quicktime files (typically mjpeg-A), whilst importing would cause the system to generate an exception or produce unexpected results. Version v2.5.0a1 ---------------- * Improvement - Previously Pyxis could not store non-English(ASCII) named directories meaning audio dragged in from one of these directories would appear offline next time Pyxis was started. Now the deviceInfo.dsm stores its text as Unicode so can support non-ASCII character folders. NOTE: This means media devices will no longer be compatible with old Pyxis 1.3 machines as Pyxis 1.3 can not read Unicode. If you need Pyxis 1.3 and Pyxis 2.0 to work on the same network you can use the following commandline '-SUPPORT_PYXIS1.3', and Pyxis will continue to write the old style deviceInfo.dsm. * Bug fix - previously Pyxis could not play over midnite, Broken in v2.0 * Bug fix - Previously Pyxis could sometimes be non frame accurate when driven in NTSC as a timecode slave. * Bug fix - further bugfixes to improve chasing LTC on stop. * Bug fix - jittery LTC chase when chasing static LTC "on stop". * Bug fix - Stretch to Fit Issues with certain Quicktimes on Decklink output. * New Feature - Final Cut Pro, XML project import. * Improvement - The audio scrollers have now been improved so that they cope better with when the audio cache does not have the samples that they are after. They used to just display a flat line in this case, now they can wait till the caches have the samples they are after. * Bug fix - Fixed a crash that could be caused by dragging a corrupted audio file on the timeline. * Bug fix - Previously using File>Import Video, with change scale, scale frame rate and crop/pad all switched on would crash the application. * New feature - Pyxis can now export MXF files containing DVCProHD (1920x1080) essence. * New Feature - Record video direct to quicktime files. Currently "Motion Jpeg A" codec inside a quicktime file is supported, for SD & HD. Other codecs written direct to quicktime files will be supported in the future. * New feature - Pyxis now reads both 32 bit integer and 32 bit floating point wave files. * New feature - Pyxis now reads RF64 wav files. * Bug fix - Some quicktime files (with a resolution of half the size of HD1920 x 1080 or smaller) displayed incorrectly when display mode (Pyxis Pro) was set to "Stretch Both" or "Stretch Vertical". * Bug fix - Fixed so that a clips offset is correctly initially set to zero when importing and AES31 file. * Bug fix - Fixed discrepencies which could occur with the detected frame rate of some quicktime files. * New Feature - If a clip on the timeline is longer than the source media that it referances, it now displays a red line on the clip for the section of the clip that has no media and is just returning silence. * Bug fix - Fixed a GDI memory leak to do with the audio scrollers. * Bug fix - Fixed a rare multi-threading crash to do with changing displayed audio scrollers. * Improvement - Significantly reduced the amount of memory the media database uses within Pyxis. * Compatibility - fix endian ambiguity in AIFC data to do with omf files from digidesign digtranslator (from Mac). * Bug fix - If Windows is set to use 'Windows Classic style' some buttons were being cut off on the bottom of dialogs, now fixed. * Improvement - 'Render video to "x"'' previously put the new video into the video drives FairligthAU\Media directory. Now it goes into the relative media foler (in the correct project folder) on the video drive when it is rendered, rather than the video drive's FairlightAU\media directory. * Improvement - Previously, HD video fades to/from black may not play back in real time. * Bug fix - Fixed a crash that would occur if you had soft edits enabled and you copied/cut a section of clip smaller than the soft edit size to the clipboard. * Bug fix - Fixed a crash that could occur when jogging zoomed out with an audio scroller displayed. * Bug fix - several Decklink ADR video graphics fixed. * Improvement - Now in when in non-layered display mode, if you left click on a clip and release it the clip is no longer placed on the top layer but stays on the same layer. This makes it easier for people who accidently picked up a clip to leave it where is was. If you wish to move the clip to the top layer with the mouse you need to move the clip away and than back and than it will be placed onto the top layer. * Bug fix - fixed potential crash to do with quicktime DV100, DV50 .mov files. * Improvement - Improved the speed of reloading the video locators. Now only video locators that detect a change at their time are reloaded. * Bug fix - Fixed an issue in 'Media and Project Management' where deleting a project could cause media in the active project to become offline. * Bug fix - snapto embedded timecode was broken for quicktimes. * Improvement - snapto embedded timecode will place a BWF at the nearest subframe, if it is close to a subframe. * New Feature - It is now possible to export a Quicktime reference file. It is only possible to create one of these if the video clip on the timeline is a Quicktime file. What this does is makes a new Quicktime file that references the video in the existing Quicktime file and the new audio that is made during the export process. This makes the export very quick as it does not need to export any video just audio. * Improvement - There is now a working progress bar during a Quicktime audio import, giving you an idea how long it will take. * New feature - Manual 'read only' mode for devices. This option can be set in Media and Project Management ->Choose a Device->Set Device info * New Feature - Added the Ctrl modifier key to specify if dragged on audio files should be added down the tracks instead off along the one track. So to make the dragged on clips go down the tracks all you need to be doing is holding down the ctrl key when you drop the audio files on the timeline. * Compatibility - Omf files cannot represent a gain > +12 dB. Version v2.1.0b2 ---------------- * New Feature - (Beta Feature) Now includes a Comms card driver that works on Windows XP 64bit. The new driver version is now v195. Also the installion of the new driver is now easier and can just be ticked to be installed at the end of Pyxis Installer. The old comms card driver installer is no longer installed. With 64bit Comms card driver support Pyxis NLV now works under Windows XP 64bit, though this is at an early stage of testing. For Pyxis Pro machines you will also need to install the 64bit Decklink drivers. * Improvement - Improvement to new version 2 licensing. Now you only need to be given a base license for an upgrade to version 2 from version 1 software. The software will automatically use the old licenses for the extra options if you had any i.e. HD, ADR etc. * Improvement - Options missing from General Preferences->Options restored (now the same as Dream). * Bug fix - Fixed a bug where if you changed the number of audio inputs in 'Setup -> Audio Capture' the number of arm buttons was not changing. So if you increased the number of inputs you could not use them until you restarted Pyxis or minimised it and restored it. * Improvement - Mainconcept codecs upgraded to 7.6.1. * Bug fix - Fixed a crash that would occur if you tried to import a video file name that did not exist. * Bug fix - Omf Export. Previously the layering of the export may not be correct in some circumstances. * Bug fix - (#599533) 14.98fps quicktime files were accidently played at 29.97. * Improvement - Mainconcept codecs upgraded to 7.6.1. * Improvement - Now reads Mpeg2_422P_HL_I_FRAME mpeg mxf files. * Bug fix - Detect corrupted or illegal folderinfoXXX.dsm files. * Bug fix - Fixed a bug where editing in All Layers mode at the end of lined up clips only affected the top clip. * Improvement - The names of clips are now offset in slightly from the edge of a clip. Making the names easier read, especially when zooming in and the names are on the left edge of the screen. * Improvement - 59.94, 60, 50fps (720p) Pyxis Pro (Decklink ) now works correctly. Version v2.1.0b1 ---------------- * New Feature - There is a new option in "Setup -> General Preferences" on the Scrollers tab called "Scrollers on full screen video". This leaves the scrollers on when you switch to full screen video which can be useful for moving the timeline while in full screen video mode. * Improvement - Pyxis Pro (Decklink) video output sync tweaks. The preferred decklink driver is now 6.8.3. * Improvement - (9pin). Previously the servo lock flag could come on prematurely. This could cause Pyxis and Xynergi to not lock together. * Improvement - Previously audio from AVI's/Quicktime's was imported into a common directory called 'videoImportedAudioMedia'. Now the audio is imported into your projects media directory, this helps during the cleaning up of old media. When you import the audio for a AVI/Quicktime it will now check if the audio has been imported else where and if so referance the existing copy still saving the time of importing the audio again. Also the audio file generated previosuly had the same name as the video file with a .wav extension. However, this could lead to name clashes if a new version of the quicktime came in with the same name as it would referance the old audio file. This has been fixed. * Bug fix - Previously opening media and project management could cause some media to go offline. * Improvement - All existing media is closed when a project is opened or newed. Media is not closed when accessing media and project management. * New feature - Playback IMX MPEG quicktime files (.mov). * Improvement - Improved playback behaviour of quicktimes that have non consistent (variable) frame rates. * Bug fix - (#575378) Problem with Avsync not releasing Port 0 fixed. * Bug fix - Problem with Quicktime .mov (MJPEG) @ 23.98fps. * Bug fix - Decklink video output problems fixed. * Bug fix - Fix where with certain numbering of bitmaps sequences they would fail to import. * Bug fix - (#562168) - The ability to drag bitmaps onto the timeline was broken. Note: currently only 32 bit bitmaps can be dragged onto the timeline. Other bitmaps can be imported. * New Feature - Now when when deleting a project in 'Media and Project Management' it gives you the option if you would like to delete the projects media also. This will only remove the projects media that is in this projects media directory and which is native media i.e. it will only delete media that has been localised or created within this project. * New feature - (#500581) New keyboard shortcuts. control+shift+'6' - shuttle slower. control+shift+'7' - shuttle faster. * New feature - Reveal Project File. This will open a windows explorer, containing the current project file. Available under the File menu. * Improvement - Cleaned up layout of the 'Media and Project Management dialog'. * Bug fix - previously pressing 'Delete Project' inside 'Media and Project Management' dialog whilst displaying a folder which doesnt have any projects would crash the application.
